Default CMMapP & CMMapG? files??

Does anyone know what these files are or do? Open Activesync, click on Explore, click on My Pocket PC, and there they are...at least on mine.

The consensus I've seen is that they have something to do with Connection Manager. Do not delete these! If you do, Pocket Internet Explorer will have problems accessing Web pages.

I have no idea why Microsoft put these in the root directory (instead of the Windows directory).

For more information, see the "what kind of file is this?" thread, which would be found doing a search for cmmap.

They're files for (apparently) managing connections. They finally moved them from the root in WM2003. Now they have their own special directory, \Connmgr.

Did they move GCounterFile.mmf and the mdmlog*.txt files there, too?

GCounterFile.mmf is in \Windows\Activesync and mdmlog*.txt is nowhere to be found on my device.

The only thing in the root now is the Restart Synchronization Marker.2 file. Unless I've recently been using reader.

Do NOT delete the Restart Synchronization Marker.2 file. Doing so will mean that you have to resynch EVERYTHING on your device. In some cases, that could take a while.
