Default CE 3.0 Sync Problem

Hi all. I have just got a old(ish) Panasonic Toughbook CF-P1 running CE 3.0. Problem is it will not talk to my Vaio laptop running XP and Active Sync 4.2. On first connecting the toughbook Xp tells me that it is installing software and then that installion has been succesfull. Active Sync still does not see it.....

Any ideas?

Many Thanks,

Ra

Does your Panasonic use USB or a serial connection? You could also try Infrared. Once, I couldn't get my Dell Axim x51v to work with Activesync, so I tried IR and it worked (The USB problem was solved with a soft reset. Doh!).

If it uses serial, you might need to enable the connection. If all else fails, you could try downloading ActiveSync 4.5 Beta. I hear that it corrects a lot of problems, and so far it has worked flawlessly for me, except that it takes a little longer.

I've always wanted to mess with a CE device. Lucky. :twak:

You probably know this stuff already, but just in case...

I took a couple of screenshots in ActiveSync 4.5 Beta. Click "File," and then "Connection Settings."

Now, select Com 1 in the list (Arrow 1). Click ok, turn on the device, and connect it. If nothing happens, go back and try the next one, until you've tried them all. You can try using the "Connect" wizard too (Arrow 2). Once again, try out that Infrared connection too if you don't have any luck. Let me know if it works!
