Default Wal-Mart Offers Shopping Portal

http://www.businessinsider.com/wal-...roviders-2009-8

"Walmart is taking on Amazon with a new shopping portal, which includes about 1 million items from other vendors."

Wal-Mart currently attracts 33 million unique visitors per month, compared to Amazon's 67 million, so the market is there. Thus they have opened a portal that will include eBags, Pro Team and CSN stores. It will be interesting to see if Wal-Mart takes a chunk out of the Amazon sales number. What will it take to get you to switch?

Probably a similar effort to switching from Google to something else. I keep trying to buy books from B&N, because we have a membership, but Amazon is sort of imprinted.

Free shipping for everything, maybe? That would be an interesting move.

Or even a free ship to store option for the third party vendors.

Nah, not for me. First, the nearest Wal-Marts are 25 to 30 minutes drives. Second, I hate actually shopping in Wal-Marts. They're always disorganized, dirty, and/or packed with pushy, rude people.

I'm pretty much an Amazon guy, I've tried the others like B&N and it just isn't easy enough. Perhaps I'm just used to the way Amazon works, or perhaps it is the ease at which I can return stuff, but whatever it is, I haven't seen anything I like better

Normally, I agree, but it happens the nicest Walmart I've ever been in is just down the street from my house. Pretty much the only Walmart I'll go in.
