Default How is Your iPhone Battery?

http://blogs.computerworld.com/1477...prit_apple_asks

"Apple is investigating complaints about iPhone battery life on the new 3.1 OS. Some users point fingers at new behavior switching between 3G and EDGE modes."

Numerous reports about shortened battery life after upgrading to 3.1. Apple has even contacted some users and sent them an attachment that allows batter life logging, in hopes of narrowing down the problem. In one thread, several users report that just letting the battery run down to empty and recharging seemed to fix their problems. I haven't had any problems like this, have you?

I have the impression that my battery life is lower after the 3.1 upgrade. I have the feeling that I have less left after a day than I used too. Had a couple of instances where I hit the low battery warning, which used to be very unusual.

I have a task manager sort of thing that I can run that gives me a better reading on the battery than just the tiny icon at the top, and it lets me reclaim memory. The second part is significant. I do get the impression that more memory is getting used, as if something is running when it doesn't need to be. If I reclaim memory now and again, I do seem to get better life. Sooo, could just be a program management issue that could be found and patched.

Nothing noticeable on my 3G. I generally sync and recharge it every other day. Unless I'm using it very heavily, I seldom see the low battery warning.

I have noted that on my 3GS that battery life is more than an issue than my old G model prior to v3.0.

I was recently sat at my PC with my iphone near the speaker - and noted that with the iphone sat there, there was constant interference chatter from the iphone on the speakers. I've heard it before on other mobile phones but never constant when the phone was 'off'.

So I turned of the WiFi - made no difference. Then I turned off Notifications - and suddenly most of the chatter stopped. There is an occasional burst now - probably a combination of 3G/GSM and Exchange Push - but it does seem that Notifications is a significant contributor to rest state battery consumption - and overall longevity between charges.
