Default Home Sharing Made Easy

http://www.appletell.com/apple/comm...etell+Appletell

"If the idea of setting up your networked Macs to share your iTunes libraries is just too much to bear, then these steps can help you to get sharing."

Not sure if any of you have tried this nifty feature with iTunes 9, but it works quite well. This article is a step-by-step on how to get it working so you can share iTunes items between multiple Macs.

I've been using it since it was available and I love it. The only feature that I wish it had was the ability to push content to a connected computer. I have a Mini that holds all of our media and when I buy or download something on my Macbook I would prefer just to push it rather than go to the Mini and do it from there. (Yes, I know that iTunes 9 added the watched folder feature and I could just drag content there, but I'm sure Id forget what I already pushed and end up adding duplicates.)

Maybe I'm just dense, but I've never figured out what the difference is between this and the library sharing feature that was already in iTunes.

You can play anything from library sharing, as you can with home sharing. With home sharing, however, you can drag and drop content into your library - you cannot do that with library sharing. (It will also identify those things that are not already in your library, and can be set up to update your library with new content whenever you connect.)
