Default iPod Touch a Big Mobile Internet Success

http://gigaom.com/2009/02/11/ipod-t...ernet-use-grow/

"On the day I give up on my iPhone and trade it in for the iPod Touch, AdMob, a mobile advertising startup released its report that shows a big uptick in the mobile Internet usage via WiFi in the month of January 2009. According to AdMob, Apple devices generated 28% more requests (1.2 billion) in January versus December 2008. The iPod touch growth outpaced iPhone growth and now represents 40% of Apple requests, up from 20% in September 2008."

Wow.  Nice numbers for a media player!

I imagine a lot of people take the Ryan Block route and keep an iPod Touch on the coffee table as a web tablet.  It's one heck of a device and an excellent compromise for those not wanting to commit to an iPhone or AT&T.

I've passed up the iPhone a few times now, and it was always a tough choice but for my own reasons I decided that I needed a phone with Windows Mobile. I love my iPod Touch though. I listen to podcasts on it all day at work and when I'm in the car by myself. I keep music on it to listen to in the car when my family is with me. I record TV and convert it to watch on my Touch. And of course, as the article says, it makes a great internet tablet for casual surfing. I often use it at home to go through my Google Reader feeds or to read email.

Probably one of the best things is that it keeps my kids busy. My 4 year old love to play iBowl on it.
