Default Apple Issues Warning About Heat

http://www.gearlog.com/2009/07/appl...dvisory_for.php

"Whether or not anecdotal reports of iPhones overheating are true or not, Apple has taken them seriously enough to reveal the presence of a temperature warning screen for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Here's the deal: an unknown but probably very small number of iPhones have been affected by overheating, to the point that some white iPhone 3GSes have allegedly turned pink. Sascha Segan, our phone analyst, said he hasn't seen any such problems with his iPhone 3GS, however."

There ya go.  Heat can hurt electronics.  Aren't you glad we have have companies to tell us stuff like this?

Just so I can't be blamed for being totally biased , I've seen the almost identical screen on my WinMo devices. Guess what the conditions were. Parked car, in summer, connected to power and GPS running. Didn't even think about it when running into the Subway for lunch on a road trip. Turned the car (and the AC) off. Didn't think about the fact that my accessory outlet is powered even when the ignition is off, so the unit kept right on running and charging and processing. Came back out to the warning screen. Unpluged, shut off, directed AC at unit and it was good as new in a few minutes. All my WinMo doohickies are black though, so a little extra heat doesn't show up.
