Default MacBook Scholars Program at U of A

http://uanews.org/node/26947

"The MacBook Scholars Program, in its first year, is providing 500 freshman students with new computers to assist them in succeeding academically at the UA."

They used a panel comprised of UA admissions staff and student leaders to pick the first 500 students from the group of freshman students attending the University of Arizona this year. They haven't really outlined specifics on how they were chosen, but a majority had to overcome obstacles in order to attend according to one spokesperson. Regardless of how they were chosen, it sounds like they picked a group that really appreciated the MacBook package. The package included a MacBook Pro 13-inch customized with the University's logo on the case and the glowing Apple in red, a printer, iWork '09 and a $229 rebate offer from the school book store. This is an introductory program but it sounds like they are planning on expanding it in the future.Â*
