Default AT&T Unfixes 3G TV Redirection "Mistake"

http://www.electronista.com/article...ng.tos.returns/

"AT&T on Wednesday quietly updated its cellphone terms of service to again potentially ban devices like the Slingbox on its network. Having initially pulled earlier changes in what was described as "an error," the carrier has again modified the terms to specifically prevent "redirecting television signals for viewing on Personal Computers.""

The obvious question that this change of TOS brings up is, "What exactly can we expect when the Slingbox app is released?"  Honestly, who knows, but considering how long it's taking for the damn thing to be approved, you never know what AT&T thinks about Sling's app.  It's also worth noting that AT&T does have a mobile TV product available on some of its phones, so they may just be pigeonholing you into their product.

I hope that isn't the case.

Apple hasn't done anything. This is not news. The "quiet update" mentioned is quiet because it wasn't any update. Nothing has changed - what you quote has been there all along, and this has already been pointed out on a number of other sites.

Actually, I didn't say Apple did anything, I said AT&T changed the language back in their TOS, which they did. It was removed after the uproar a few weeks ago, and now it's made its way back into the agreement.

After AT&T's network failed to handle all of the traffic at SxSW several weeks ago, is it any wonder that AT&T wants to prevent people from watching TV over their data network? If I was an AT&T customer, I think I'd prefer that Slingbox stay off, actually.
