Default Palm Releases Talking Points on Pre

http://www.precentral.net/internal-...-out-right-here

"Curious to know what Sprint is telling their own about the Palm Pre? Come on in and take a look from this leaked PDF sent in to us by a couple of very friendly tipsters. There's very little you don't already know if you're a Pre-fanatic (including what plans work, Exchange suport, etc)."

The "talking points" comparisons are always interesting if not a little skewed.  You probably can't read this in their graphic (so you have to go register; I don't want to direct link their big scoop...  It isn't nice!) but there are some real gems in this comparison.  Amongst the killer features and ways the Pre "smokes" the competition are NASCAR content, live TV, and a camera flash (which I'm sure isn't just a pure-white LED and is a real Xenon flash like on the Nokia N85).

Wow.  You had to dig that deep to find advantages, Palm?  Scary...

I hope Palm isn't too much of a victim of a completely incompetent launch.  Between Sprint not knowing what makes it attractive and Palm having "trouble" supplying enough Pres for a good nationwide launch...  Well...  I'm not holding out  a ton of hope.  This isn't going to be an iPhone launch, folks.

Engadget has 21 pages of these docs that were sent out - you don't need an account to read them. I thought that the most interesting things are multiple Exchange sync accounts supported, and remote wipe - even as a consumer, you can log in to your profile page and remotely wipe the device if it is stolen, etc.

That is pretty cool; no doubt. Multiple Exchange accounts is kind of interesting; makes me think they're just running multiple "instances" of the e-mail client somewhere.

I don't know, though... I feel like I'm about to get let down REALLY hard on this one. I had a lot of hope for the Pre, but Palm is just so damn inept...

They also support multiple Google accounts, which Android can't do (or at least couldn't at one point...not sure now). Funny. This is the benefit of rethinking messaging from the ground up to support multiple types of accounts.

I don't think it is actually going to be multiple client instances. Exchange 2003+ has support for an AJAX and/or web service interface, so I'm sure they are just hitting this. Of course, I haven't seen this, either, so I can't be 100% sure. But this makes the most sense to me. It is the way that you could get access to multiple exchange accounts in the old Treo days using Chattermail. And since the Chattermail developer went to work for palm two years ago to work on some mysterious, super-secret project...well...probably.
