Default Gamoku Free Online Gaming Site for Your Pocket PC

http://www.gamoku.com

With the booming popularity of online games for PCs, it's about time that someone decided to offer something similar for the Pocket PC. The games offered by Gamoku are browser-based and require installation of Flash player. Oh, did I mention the service is free? Check it out and give us your thoughts.

Well, there aren't many games in there... Other online Flash repositories offer orders of magnitude more games, about 20-30% of them perfectly playable on the Pocket PC; for example, at http://www.killsometime.com/ . In the article on Pocket PC Flash players, I've elaborated on this question a lot.

Still, it's worth checking out this site to look around - but don't forget there are tons of other Pocket PC-compatible Flash games out there.

How do you play the games on killsometime.com on your PPC, the site is not formatted for mobile devices like Gamoku?

As has also been pointed out in my Flash Bible, all you need to do is switching to One Column mode - then, Flash games will be resized.

BTW, KillSomeTime can be accessed / navigated directly from a PDA too:

Yup - my only complaint with this site is the lack of games - there are some 10-20 of them in there, as opposed to KillSomeTime, which offers thousands of them. This is why I (still) prefer KillSomeTime.

There are hundreds of game websites like KillSomeTime, the more popular ones being MiniClip.com, Mousebreaker, etc. The truth is that these websites are not designed for PocketPCs - all that images and animated advertisement will bog down a PocketPC in no time and they take ages to download over GPRS. And even if the games can be played on PocketPCs it is rather by accident then design.

I agree with you on the number of games that Gamoku has right now. I guess all that development and testing to make sure that the games work on PocketPCs takes time.

Yup, you-re right - about 20-30% is playable without problems on Pocket PC's - see the compatibility list in the Flash Bible. Still, I recommend visiting these online repositories - there are a LOT of nice games out there. If you bookmark them (or, even better, save the games to your local PPC as is described in the Flash Bible), then, the additional cr@p (ads, non-PDA-optimized HTML markup) will become tolerable.
