Default Win An Otterbox Case For Your Treo!

If you've ever looked for a way to seriously protect your Pocket PC from life's many bumps and bruises, you're no doubt familiar with the tough cases from Otterbox. They're rugged, durable and still allow you to use, charge and synch your device while still in the case.

As part of the launch of their new case for the Treo, Otterbox is offering a free Treo case for one lucky Pocket PC Thoughts reader! This is a brand new style, made to fit your Treo like a glove (a very sturdy glove).

Here are the guidelines for this cool giveaway (valued at $130.00):

• You may ONLY enter if you currently own a Treo (and the winner may be asked to verify ownership via serial number).
• To enter, post a comment to this thread and describe either a past situation in which an Otterbox case would have spared your poor device from heartbreaking damage OR a future situatation in which you anticipate using your Treo and for which you really need the protection of an Otterbox case (or both).
• You may enter only once (i.e., one post); multiple posts will be taunted, teased and treated with self-righteous disdain.
• All entry posts must be received by 12:01am EST on December 24, 2006.
• The folks at Otterbox will select the winner, basing their decision upon the entries' accurate description and application of the case to real-life situations.
• The decisions of the judges are final, especially since the judges are the very same, very generous people who are giving the case away in the first place.
• As always (say it with me), "No whining."

Good luck, and have fun!

I have a Treo 700Wx. I'd love an Otterbox to protect it.

While I haven't had too many scary situations with the Treo--it's only a couple of months old--I have put my PDAs in some hairy situations in the past.

These usually involve hiking/swimming with my Golden Retriever--often helped by my bluetooth GPS navigation receiver.

Let me just say that a happy, wet and excited Golden can/will jump on you and likely knock you and whatever you're holding to the ground with quite a thump. :?

I also have a 700wx that my wife just bought me for Christmas. I'd love to have an Otterbox considering I have a 2 year old daughter at home who loves to destroy things by accident.

My Treo is replacing a Nokia 6225 (and you know how indestructible those are!) that suffered countless drops onto hard surfaces. She once dropped it 4 ft onto a resturant floor even.

My Nokia was able to survive it all but I worry that my Treo won't be able to. Shoot, even my laptop has taken a beating from her. My hard drive slowly died after she knocked it off of the coffee table.

Please ... help my phone survive my daughter's toddler years!

In the near 8 years I have been using PDAs, I have had my share of broken PDAs, but the most costle has been with my PPC-6700 last year when it first came out.

I spent near $500.00 on my new phone and hadn't even had it more than 10 days when it slipped from my belt clip with a new Leather case on to the ground. Saddly, the leather case offered no more protection and my brand new PPC-6700 was still broke. What a waste.

Simple put, your PDA is an investment, why wouldn't you want to protect it?

And as for my Treo 700wx, I'd only want the Otterbox, the best and toughest case in the world to protect my PDA.

This would be something of great value to me, I am an amateur photographer and spend allot of time in the wild. I am very hard on my hardware, that’s why I tend to have to replace my phones about every six months or so. I have broken lots of screens from drops and bumps. I also have a 4 year old that has caused havoc on my stuff. Even breaking a notebook screen at one point. This would be something very valuable to me. I have used the otter hardware in the past and always loved it but just can’t afford it at the moment. It would be nice to be able to show to my clients to as I work with allot of people that love this kind of stuff.

Otterbox rules - I already have 2 different sizes of plain boxes that I use to protect stuff when I go kayaking. Of course, they only hold things, like the el-cheapo phone that I bought just for kayaking (if it gets wet and dies, no big deal). This beauty would let me bring my Treo 650, and it would actually be usable, say to call the pickup person to tell them which bridge to meet me by! Crush-proof and dust/water resistance would let it live safely in my dry bag till needed, and the water resistance would even allow a call in the rain. Cool deal!

WOW this is the first time I have seen one of these. If you are looking for someone to put this case to the test you are looking for me. I work in the Material handling industry so I am in a potentially PPC destroying situation every day. I have a 700wx and I keep the insurance currant because I usually need to use it a couple of times a year. What a pain having to set up a new PPC with all my information. I am glad my 700wx comes with sprite backup to help with getting going again.

I groped my last PPC 6700 once from a scissor lift, I was 35 feet in the air, I was still able to make calls using the voice command but the screen was toasted. I need this case PLEASE HELP.

I have had my Treo for a few months and I'm pretty active with my kids, throwing them around, wrestling them so it's not uncommon to have them jump onto me at anytime.

One afternoon as I was waiting for my wife at Costco, my daughter decided to jump on me (Since Treos do not come with any carrying case whatsoever, I have a chinsy clip for my phone on my belt), my daughter inadvertently knocked my phone to the ground and slid about 5-6 feet from us. I quickly see if anything was wrong, it turned on and off but with a few scratches so I just went on with the day.

Later that afternoon, I tried accessing some of the programs but couldn't, an error message popped up, I didn't think much of it since I was driving. Later I tried again and the same error message but this time I read the error message and realized my 2 gig SD card with all my important info and documents flew out at Costco. Yup, would have been nice with an Otterbox!

Default treo otterbox giveaway

Maybe this will count and maybe it won`t but I would like to sumit an entry for my dad. He is a 55 year old farmer who actually had a windows ce device before I knew what they where (hp620lx). Anyways. after owning an ipaq 3635 and usind it daily for 4-5 years it started to fail him. I finally convinced him to get the awesome treo 700. he is always dropping things, especially his phones and I can think of no better investment for a rugged and dusty environment than this case. It would be awesome to get him something like this for Christmas. If this is against the rules, that's fine, sharing a story about my dad and mobile devices was worth it. Thanks.
