Default Win A Free Copy of Virtual Explorer!

Anton Tomov, the creator of such applications as Pocket Mechanic Professional, has recently released his new Virtual Explorer.

Virtual Explorer will let you manage files and folders quickly and effectively. Browsing and editing the registry is equally easy. Support for built-in compression of all major compression standards and integration of compressed files into the file explorer shell, strong file encryption, direct FAT access, file shredder, Virtual Search functionality are just a few of the features that are included in this product.

You can learn more about Virtual Explorer and grab the free demo or full version for $14.95 on his Web site.

Even better, Anton wants to give a free Virtual Explorer license to TEN (yes TEN!) lucky readers out there in Thoughtsland. We'll randomly select the winners from among those who follow these guidelines:

• To enter, post a reply to this thread and mention either a feature of the current release of Virtual Explorer you like OR a feature you'd like to see in the future (or both, I suppose).
• You may enter only ONCE (e.g., one post); multiple posts will be folded, spindled and mutilated.
• All entry posts must be received by 12:01am EST on December 18, 2006.
• The decisions of the judges are final, no whining, blah, blah, blah...

Good luck, and have fun!

Looking over the feature list, what I like most is the integrated Hex and Registry editor. The Recycle Bin concept is cool, and definitely warrants some review. However, I often have a need to quickly tweak a text file and don't want the bother of trying to launch a native app to open it. (XML files are especially bad about this.)

Feature desired - possibly unRAR support. The ability to have multiple "windows" could be useful as well when trying to move files from a bunch of folders to a target folder or from one folder to a bunch of targets. This would eliminate the need to scroll around so much finding Source/Target folders. I imagine others could desire things like picture previews. I'm not as concerned about that right now.

Looks work checking out and their other products so far have been pretty high quality. Thanks for the link.

I very much like the idea of using compressed files / file compression, the strong encryption would be also very important to me!

I just must say this, maybe there are others too.

Every time i hear words "pocket mechanic", i instantly get bad wibes and turn around. Same here with this explorer thingie, although it seems like a nice app.

Why? This is becouse they used that evil copyprotection in the past (maybe even still). I know that it is only for the warez-dudez, but i am proud to be paranoid and i am afraid that these kind of things will mess up my ppc even if i would buy it.

One feature that I'd love is the ability to BOOKMARK registry folder, or even the key itself (not the DWORD value). This is similar to Windows's RegEdit.

I often changed my 8525 registry for testing and hate having to go find the registry key that I want again and again.
