I like the sms send on an unknown sim card (however, there's a good chance that this would only lead police to the owner of a stolen sim card).

My worst security tragedy is happily none at all--with six years of pda use. (sadly, I recently lost my stylus for the first time...no way for it to call home)

Now there's a use for RFIDs! Put a transmitter in the stylus and a reader in the PDA (or vice versa) and if the two get too far apart, one of them starts beeping.

that might also prevent the design of yet another "twig" stylus since it would have to be bigger. i miss my 1997 apple newton stylus. my JAMin stylus is definitely a twig (a new twig now).
