I am only commenting on seeing that date at other rumor sites.

Well, this site and that other site site that engages in rumor mongering.

It's too bad there are no rumors for the Dell Axim regarding Pocket PC 2003. Although I do not question if Dell will provide it, I do question how much time they take, before they offer it to us X5 users.

Btw Ed: what the heck does mongering mean? I've never heard of that word! (Although I do understand it using the context of the sentence)

A 'monger' is literally someone who 'sells' something (literally or figuratively) - as in a 'fishmonger' or 'ironmonger'. 'Mongering', then, is the practice of 'selling' something - in this context it is 'selling' in the way that a newspaper can be said to be selling a story (rather than for money!).

As for Dell - I know for certain that Fujitsu-Siemens will be offering the 2003 upgrade, inges-PDA has confirmed that HP will be offering it, in a couple of places people have stated that Toshiba reps have said they will offer it... I'm sure Dell will compete with all of them for both providing the U/G and the time-frame in which they offer it.

Remember - so far all of us with knowledge of upgrades from various manufacturers are reporting info from reps or leaks - no-one will be announcing anything officially before 23 June (trust me - MS have made it clear that this is not to happen!). Dell have obviously just not 'leaked' yet!

As Ed says - no matter how good the source of leaked info - until MS/FSC/HP/Dell/Toshiba officially confirm it, it remains in the realm of rumour...

Actually, it just means to promote, so you don't have to actually sell it. Thus rumormongering is the act of promoting rumors.

Not to be pedantic - but 'promote' is a recent definition that derives from the original idea of being a seller (or as the link you give also puts it - a 'dealer' or 'peddler') - in that promotion is the 'selling' of an idea or fact ...

Default PPC Dev 2003

A buddy has told be that the pre-release 2003 tools only allow compilation to 2003 devices.

This strongly suggests to me that some serious API changes are occuring. That, and I strongly suspect that 2003 is X-Scale optimized.

If PPC 2003 isn't X-Scale optimized, it's a waste of time.
