Default Want a Little Cheese With Your Whine?

Let me start by stating that the Thoughts Team is VERY happy with the response that we got to the New Year's Day Giveaway Extravanganza. The various contests spurred unprecedented traffic to this site and to the sites of our great supporters who contributed prizes. We are also VERY glad that our readers seemed to really enjoy this first attempt at such an event; after all, this site is here for YOUR enjoyment.

I do have to apologize, though, for some confusion around one of the contests. When it came time to figure out who the winners were, I tabulated the results differently than some readers had expected; as a result, there was a bit of arguing among a few people who felt they deserved a prize. Happily, the prize's developer stepped in and offered to give a prize to all of the disputed winners, so those involved should be getting an e-mail from him soon.

I guess one of the things we'll do differently next time is to make sure that Giveaway Rule Number One is more carefully articulated . Even though the Thoughts Team had to sift through thousands of posts in order to give away over 200 prizes, I got some pretty outlandish messages from some people:

• "I really don't want this software. Can I substitute a different one from the same developer?"
• "I know I entered this contest, but my device isn't compatible with the prize."
• "Can you tell me the best way to try to sell my prize?"
• "The winners were announced over 2 hours ago, and I still haven't gotten my prize...What's up with that?"

So, to the 99.999923% of you who enjoyed the giveaways, I say: Terrific! we appreciate your patience and patronage!

To the few whiners out there, I say: This Pocket PC hobby is supposed to be fun. Lighten up!

And have some cheese.

But, if the software is for a Phone Edition device and a person doesn't own a Phone Edition, I'd suggest that person shouldn't enter the drawing.

I don't want to re-ignite arguments here, because I really think the vast majority of the readers had a good time with the contests. As Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say, though, "It's always SOMEthing!"

Out of curiosity, and to prevent me from having to search :-), what was the dispute? And let's thank the developer for giving even more prizes, too. :-D

Geez. I make a motion that these people never be allowed to achieve the rank of Pocket PC Intellectual or higher.

It had to do with how the posts for a particular thread were counted, if it included the original contest post or not. Fortunately the issue has been resolved (and quite nicely if I may add), so it isn't a problem anymore. And it doesn't matter which way of counting was correct. (hint to future posters to this thread...)

Has Jason figured out the 50 winners of PoQuick yet? I think I was ~#39 or something, once he gets it announced

Woohoo! Listpro AND PoQuick! (Considering I'm actually one of the winners of the latter )

Default Thanks for the contests

It was fun trying to win the contests. I haven't tried that hard to be at the right place at the right time on-line in a long time. Almost like tryin to win a lottery. I loved the atmosphere it set up. lotsa fun. Ok, true... I didn't win a prize, but the attempt is half the fun.
