Default Textware Solutions Announces FITALY Dom Perignon IV Speed Contest

http://www.textware.com/domperignon/domperignon4.htm

The makers of the ultimate SIP for PDAs is once again putting their concept of what stylus data entry should be. All you need to do is type in the following:
Quote: What you need to do to have a chance to win the contest is tap this sentence as fast as you can without any error. One more thing you need to have for a valid entry is a witness.

First prize is a bottle of Dom Perignon. Other prizes include FitalyStamp, Fitaly Virtual and Fitaly for the Pocket PC. There are also a number of weekly awards for the best entries that week of a number of popular software titles like TextMaker, Pocket Informant and others.

Warm up your styluses. You have a few days to practice - it officially starts October 1 and ends November 6. The last time I tried this I was hovering around 40wpm and am probably still fairly close to that. I expect the winner will get near or achieve the 80wpm record a few years ago. 8O

On a related issue, this is a good time to do another poll. Reply in this thread any and all things related to input methods and why they are your favorites and I'll put a poll together later this week to find out what Pocket PC Thoughts users prefer for data entry. Of course, Fitaly will definitely be in the poll. It has been my favorite for 4 years. It is the first app I install when I set up a new device so I can quickly type registration info in other apps as I install them.

Since Iīm from the old Palm camp i prefer the writing way of input. I use Letter Recognizer. I donīt like the tap away method...

Good ol' fashion block recognizer (Grafiti).

And for the record, I prefer the old single stroke method - you could always tell other [palm] users because even on paper they would still write the letter "t" like a seven.

This is a really good time for this thread to come along. Every Fall I seem to decide to learn a faster, easier way of inputting data faster into my iPAQ. I never follow through very long, however, and always return to the tried and true (and slow) keyboard once the trial period runs out.

I'd love to see a new poll (and comments) about what folks think is the best input method. The only critria I have is that it come with a free trial period that is long enough for me to learn to use it effectively.

I use, um, my built in keyboard on my 4355. I am much faster thumbing something in then I ever was with block recognizer. For me, SIP programs are a waste because I usually don't need it...although I did notice that the 4355 keyboard is missing the back slash.

Fitaly is nice to have when I don't have my Bluetooth keyboard handy.
But, maybe rather than this self-promotion, they could work on updating it for WM2003SE?

I have to agree with you... there's nothing like a keyboard. It's one of the reasons I most miss the Psion Revo (Diamond Mako), but my 4355's thumbboard isn't so bad, and when I'm not using it, I use an external keyboard.

I tried graffiti, handwriting recognition, fitaly and about everything else I could find, but when it comes down to it, one stylus point isn't as fast as 10 fingers (or even 2 thumbs).

I use Fitaly exclusively, the only time I switch to the standard keyboard is when someone else wants to use my Pocket PC.
