I downloaded the freebie and then bought the ppc version when they offered it 20 euros cheaper for a limited period (39 euoros)
the program is awesome just like the desktop version and is a must for anyone who wants to write formatted documents on their ppc

oh and their service was pretty good after my code wouldnt work
martin kotulla from their tech support sorted the problem and e-mailed me back within 10 mins

I use the PPC version of Textmaker everyday, it's a great product. I got the Windows version free with it, but I don't see any real point in a desktop Textmaker. My reason for getting the PPC one was integration with Word.

Although we all complain about the lack of quality built-in apps with PPC2002, this situation does gives creative people in companies like Softmaker the chance to come up with some nice solutions.

It would have been nice to see a couple of companies launch a Pocket Word replacement. Nothing like a bit of competition to get pricing to a better level.

I'm one of those who downloaded the desktop version this past week. I do a lot of writing on the weekends and I decided to do my rtf files with TextMaker. There are a couple things about it that I prefer over Word 2000. I think TextMaker made a good move. By the end of today I may purchase the PPC version. If I'm not mistaken, it is available at a lower price through Monday.

I have to give them credit. When they first released a version that they said would let even complicated docs make a round trip without damage, I downloaded and installed it and threw one of my technical papers at it. Hundreds of MathType equations, graphics, images, tables... it failed miserably and totally garbled the document. So I sent them the file and explained what it did, though I never heard back from them.

Then they released another trial version but it didn't support saving to Word format. Well after that last experience, I sure wasn't going to pay (what I consider excessive) money to find out whether or not they'd fixed the thing. :silly:

So this time I downloaded the desktop and new trial version and I threw another tough technical document at it. I'm pleased to say that it came through nicely. :way to go:

Way back when they first suggested in these forums that they might make a PPC version, I told them that if they could make my Word documents round trip, I'd buy it if it was priced reasonably. Well they made the product work and they offered it at a reasonable ($US34) price, so I bought it.

Cheers to these guys! They've done an excellent job.
