Default Spb Named Pocket PC Developer of The Year by Handango

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pre...2003/jul30.html

Among the Handango champion award winners was Spb, who won Developer of the Year. Go Spb and Jason! :rock on dude!:

If you're curious what this award means, more precisely, read on...

Clint Patterson, VP of Marketing for Handango, describes the Developer of the Year award: "The Developer of the Year awards were designed to honor the cream of the crop, so to speak. Recipients of this reward represent the complete package: outstanding software development, committed customer care and forward-thinking innovation. Regardless of whether they are new to the industry or have been involved since the beginning, these guys have already left their mark."

Randy Eisenman, Founder and President of Handango, went on to describe the reasons why Spb Software House was given this prestigious award: "This development company certainly has a diverse software repertoire - and is no stranger to the Handango Best Sellers list. Their applications range from games to personal utilities to developer tools, each expertly designed to enhance the Pocket PC. By finding niches in the Pocket PC software catalog that need filling, and then creating a top-notch solution, Spb Software House has earned the thanks of thousands of grateful customers."

I can personally say that Pocket Plus was one of the greatest additions to my Pocket PC. The ability to seamlessly support "X" as a close, plus the multiple IE, repeating alarms, and today plugin made it one of the near-perfect pieces of software for me. Now, let's just hope they can resolve the WM2003 repeating alarm issue soon, because I know a number of you can't wait.

I have never seen the appeal of Pocket Plus. Possibly because I've spent time/money on the originals such as MultiIE/and other freeware utilities (ftxPBrowser/Icbar) which fit me better. As a way for a newbie to get all these functions it is useful though.

They must be glad to have Jason onboard huh?

Oh I'd forgotten all about MultiIE, how well does it work (w/ WM2003)? Can you tap-n-hold on a link and have MultiIE pop-up a context option to open the link in a new window? I miss this in PocketPlus.

W/ MultiIE, basically the only feature left I'll be using from P+ is its max-volume repeating alarm thing (which doesn't work correctly yet)...

If you can't see the appeal of having a single application that does the work of several commercial/freeware applications, then you're far more of a power-user than I'll ever be.

The Multi IE Web site hasn't been been updated since October of last year 8O and there's no mention of it being Windows Mobile 2003 compatible. Considering how broken Pocket Plus' Pocket Internet Explorer features were before we fixed it, it's a safe bet to say that Multi IE will need some major re-working too.

Pocket Internet Explorer enhancements are high on the list of priorities for Pocket Plus 2.0, you can count on it. 8)

Sincerely,

When I last tried PocketPlus it seemed to be a set of enhancements - Today Plug In, Task switcher, IE Add-on which could be selectively installed. How does this differ from installing Multi-IE, IcBar, etc... , other than being installed into a common directory?

As a way of getting a number of useful utilities it is very cost effective.

I'm still waiting for my Axim upgrade to come through so I can't comment on Multi-IE's compatibility with WM2003 - I've not had any luck getting email responses from the author either on a couple of minor improvement suggestions over the last couple of years!

I'd stopped using Multi-IE - and the base PocketIE application a while back - and have been using the freeware ftxPBrowser for my offline browsing (Mazingo). I'd like to see this type of browser add-on incorporated into Pocket Plus 2.0. I'd even consider buying it for that function alone (if it worked with Vito Button Mapper).

Are you going to ask for wish list items for Pocket Plus 2.0?

The only Spb product I've tried is Full Screen Keyboard and this just did not work out for me, although I must say the quality of the application is first class.

Because I have most of the functions of Pocket Plus from other applications, I've had no real need to use it. From a lot of the comments I read here, it has plenty of fans and does a good job as well. If there are more IE enhancements to be included in future, it might be time to check it out then.

Of the developers I have personal experience with, my vote for Developer of the Year would be for WebIS. Their two applications let me leave my laptop at home much of the time which is great.

As mentioned in the article, Spb do have a solid diverse line of products, so I'm sure the award is well deserved.

Congratulations Jason.
