Yesterday was the 8th anniversary of Pocket PC Thoughts being launched, and since eight years is quite a long time in the chaotic Web world, I wanted to do something a little special to celebrate. Thanks to Archive.org, you can go back and see the very first post I made when I launched Pocket PC Thoughts on Thursday, October the 12th, 2000. I also see that my email address is on every post - I guess that's why I get so much spam - oh the sweet, naive early days of the Web. It's been a great ride - this site, and the community of people that sprung up around it, has enabled me to do Thoughts Media Inc. as a career, something for which I'm extremely grateful. I have the best job in the world: thank you.
Thanks to all of you, our readers, for coming back to this site over and over again - for posting comments in our forums, for clicking on the ads, for buying things through our affiliate store, for helping others with their problems or questions, and for supporting us in other ways. A big thanks to all the Contributing Editors who have devoted countless hours of their time over the years to this site - I couldn't have done it without all of you, and I've been blessed by the many friendships that have come from that. Thank you to everyone who has helped with our servers, our graphics, our templates, our forums, our reviews...there are too many people to name, but if you helped this site in some way, I thank you for that. Also, my gratitude extends to the companies that have supported and continue to support this site and what we do here: Microsoft, Spb Software House, PPC Techs, WebIS, and others.
What's a party without gifts though? Tomorrow, I'm going to kick off a series of giveaways to celebrate our anniversary. Why tomorrow? This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, and today is a holiday, so I'm spending it with family. What am I giving away? I've got a few devices I'm not actively using and I think it's time they move on to a better home. And I've got a grand prize that I think someone will enjoy quite a bit...stay tuned the rest of the week!

I've been fortunate enough to have known you, Jason, since that first MVP meeting right around the time you launched this site. And, I've been doubly blessed to have had the chance to work with you and others on this site in the past. My schedule no longer allows me to help edit this site, or even spend as much time here as I'd like, but I'll always consider the friendship with you and those developed as a result of my affiliation with you among the finest of my life.
Thanks, Jason, and all you other folks who have made these past eight years seem to fly by!
Congratulations to PocketPCThoughts.com, Jason Dunn and the Thoughts Media conglomerate in general!
I've been visiting PPCT since the very beginning (unfortunately I had to change username since I lost my last password and couldn't recover due to a now non-existent email) when I got my first (and very expensive) Compaq iPAQ and ever since this site has been in my favorite list.
I visit this site EVERY SINGLE DAY no matter what.
It the time of this site's launch, I was the proud owner of an HP Jornada, complete with 16MB of RAM! I think the first CF card I put in it was about 8MB in size!
It really makes you think about Moore's Law and how much less costly an 8GB card is today than an 8MB card was back then!
For years I enjoyed PPCT as a visitor, especially looking forward to the next device while using my Compaq C140 clamshell which was getting long in the tooth. I was so excited to get a...Nino! Couldn't quite spring for the color version, but the B&W Palm PC, as it was called, was still pretty cool. Along the way, I turned to this site to learn about new software and new devices. I'm now priviledged to be a Contributing Editor, trying to fill some of the big shoes left behind by folks like Brad, Marlof and others. I know a lot of other sites have come and gone during that time. Thanks, Jason, for working so hard through computer crashes, data loss, new board software, switched hosts and other technical challenges to offer such a great community and resource. Happy Birthday to PocketPCThoughts!

Me,too, I thought I was really into something in those days. I was teaching a group of seniors how to use the computer and used it to show them just how far computers have come.
I am so grateful that I lucked upon this sight. It keeps me knowlegeable about all that's Mobile. And I am proud to be distinuised in two classes: 1) a female and 2) 75 years young and they'd have to put me under if they took my PDA away. I have it loaded and if anybody ask me for anything I've got it in the palm of my hand.
Thanks, Jason, you know you're special in my book. (That goes for all the PPCT staff!)

Thank you Jason (and contributing editors) for building a great community! Congratulations on 8 years!
I don't recall what I was using 8 years ago, though I think it was probably Compaq iPaq or Dell Axim X5. But my first was a Philips Velo 1. Way back when Windows Mobile though it was Windows 95!
