Want to win one? Here's how: PPC Techs just changed their domain name to PPCtechs.com, and they want to know what you'd like to see on the new and improved site that they're working on. The best ideas will win - that's right, this isn't random. A PPC Techs representative will go through each answer and will select the three best responses. One message per person please. The contest closes at 3 PM mountain time on Monday, November the 3rd.
If you don't see your post right away, please wait 24 hours before re-posting. Odds are that it's your first post since we moved to vBulletin and it's simply held in moderation.

At the top navigation bar, I'd have a Products tab and a Services tab. That would let you see what was offered regardless of device (important because sometimes new devices are compatible with old ones or because some people have more than one device). I'd also consider adding a Reviews tab up there instead of having Reviews buried on the bottom right of the page.
In the Your Device section on the right, I'd have drop-down lists to choose the device instead of the "Change your unit" (which sounds dirty ) link. (There's also the red bar at the top showing the device and having a change link, which seems redundant.)
Finally, I'd suggest stepping into Web 2.0 and adding a blog. They could have tips and tricks to keep your device working well, sales notices, stories about odd PDA accidents, etc.
I would like to see virtual tours of the products where possible so functionality of the products is viewable, i.e. cases/covers, etc. Not sure if Bluetooth peripherals would be an idea also or whether they fall outside of the catagory they cater for?
I'd like to see options not available for devices to be filtered out, or at least grayed out. An example would be I picked the HTC Kaiser, and it showed a featured upgrade of "Internal RAM Upgrades". Neato! But when I clicked, only then did it tell me that "No products in the selected category were found for your HTC TyTN II"
I would also like to see prices more prominently displayed on the main device page (the page you see after selecting a device) with the ability to see all the purchasable options (accessories, upgrades, etc.) on a single page, instead of having to navigate everywhere.
A cleaned up device selection process would be good. Right now there's seperate listings for the AT&T Tilt and AT&T 8925, both of which are the same device. A single listing for identical models would be good. Likewise, there's devices listed where they shouldn't be: the Samsung Blackjack isn't under Samsung, it's under the name "Cingular Blackjack," which makes it hard to look over all of a given set of models at once. It might be wiser to subdivide it by manufacturer OR by carrier. That way instead of having seperate listings for AT&T phones, you can click one category to see all phones offered by AT&T (and other carriers), or you can sort by manufacturer.
Wow, great suggestions! Some of mine were taken on the first reply...
First I'd make an easy way to submit user reviews. This is great advertisement and one of the first things I look at on a product page before deciding to make a purchase.
I would also remove the requirement to enter an email address to check shipping costs. In general people are leery about entering their email address unless they know they are going to make a purchase. I personally trust that you won't use the address unless I order something, but not all will.
I would like to see more pictures of the repair/upgrade process. Perhaps some shots of the facility that I would be shipping my baby to, some shots of the equipment that shows that this is preferable to cracking my pda case at home with a pair of plyers and a screwdriver
A minor thing that I've always found a bit annoying is that when looking through the accessories the WriteShield screen protectors don't show up. The first place I go to look for the screen protectors is the Accessories link - those who don't know about the WriteShields and go to Accessories won't see them. In fact, most of the generic accessories don't show up... ie. the sync cables, mounting solutions...
For those of us with more than one type of device it would be nice to have a previous devices option so that you can easily switch between your devices rather than having to go through the menu selection again and again depending on which device your searching for. Perhaps, you could add the recently selected devices to the top of the Popular devices section... that would be kinda cool.
I'd also like to see a rating based on reviews from the user base of those who have purchased something before. So, if I'm considering an upgrade but am not sure how much of an impact it'll have on my device I could see reviews from those who have had the procedure done. Or, if I'm trying to decide between anti-glare and crystal screen protectors, it'd be nice to see user reviews for the two options based on the device I'm purchasing for. Perhaps a star or number rating with user reviews. With the quality of the products I wouldn't be too concerned about low ratings as the high ones should more than balance that out. And if you are getting consistently low ratings on a specific product you would know it's time to end it's life or improve.
firstly, videos or pictures of the upgrade process for the devices, this would really ease the minds of people contemplating sending their devices half way around the globe to be opened up..
secondly, user reviews for each product would be nice.
thirdly, after selecting a device (say Touch Diamond), it would be nice if the left side menu could reflect the actual upgrades/accessories available to the device rather than have a generic list.
e.g, when touch diamond is selected, the menu on the right shows "memory cards", upon clicking it, i actually get "HTC Diamond Kingston 2Gb MicroSd" !!!! this is very misleading...lolz
in fact all accessories selected are appended with "HTC Diamond" at the front....which doesnt really make sense.....
4th, it would be better if there were a list of generic accessories available, where users are able to see via the item's details, whther its suitable for their choice of device....
5th, pictures of the accessories actually "plugged" to a device would be helpfull as well. buyers can get a rough idea of the sizing of certain accessiries, important for those among us who need to purchase accessories based on their form factor think ppl who need to travel light...
I don't know if this is practical or not, but would love to see recommendations and bundles not just based on the hardware one has, but also on the type of user one is..i.e. someone who travels a lot overseas; someone who uses their device outdoors, hiking; someone who is a soccer-mom and keeps it in her purse and doesn't do a lot with it...
then, someone can use a drop down menu to self-select their "type" of user - or have an automated assistant, based on questions, to help determine the "type" and the result would be selected items for that individual. Kind of like google ads that are targeted to the individuals buying and surfing habits.
