Default Pocket PC Thoughts Birthday Giveaway: HTC Touch Dual

Continuing our 8th anniversary celebration, I have another Windows Mobile Professional smartphone to give away: this time it's an HTC Touch Dual. This smarpthone uses a Qualcomm MSM7200 CPU at 400MHz, has 256 MB of ROM and 128 MB of RAM, a 2.6 inch QVGA screen, a slide-out 16-key keypad, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 megapixel camera, and a 1120 mAh battery. It's a European 3G version, so it operates on HSDPA/UMTS 2100 MHz and GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz.

Want to win it? Here's how: post a message to this discussion thread telling me one thing you hope will be fixed, improved, or added in Windows Mobile 7. If you want to list more than one thing, go for it. One message per person please. I'll randomly select one post at 3 PM mountain time on Monday the 27th.

If you don't see your post right away, please wait 24 hours before re-posting. Odds are that it's your first post since we moved to vBulletin and it's simply held in moderation.

Wow, I can't believe I'm the first to post on this one! (If someone doesn't beat me while I'm writing this!!)

For me, WM7 should:
- Have a great browser
- Have greatly updated Outlook Mobile (especially the Messaging client)
- Be more finger friendly, but not to the extent of getting rid of the stylus! And not to the extent of abandoning the physical buttons (as HTC is trying to do now!)
- Boot faster!
- Be more stable than any WM version before!

I would like to see it with a better UI. Doesn't have to be Iphish or from another world. But just more user friendly. They have lost many to the new UI battle. Including me.

I would be happy with a seamless finger friend interface and a more robust Internet Explorer. I say Internet Explorer because I have tried a number of alternative browsers on my Pocket PC, and have found that they have some nice bells and whistles but still don't run as reliably as Internet Explorer. I would be pretty happy if Pocket IE just added effective scrolling, zooming, and viewing of an entire page. Pocket Plus adds some of this functionality, including tabs, but I have a feeling it would work better if it were integrated into the product itself.

I also frequently run into the browser incompatibility issue on certain pages, which inform me that my version of IE is too old! Some basic updates there could go a long way.

Default I need more cowbell...er stylus

Gimme more stylus baby! Every loser has a finger, but I'm only interested in an OS that I have to type, select, etc with a stylus. Hey WM7 should only be able to come out of standby if the stylus is out of the silo.

Default Partially taken from another posting I did

I want the following fixed or improved

1. The afformentioned midnight Birthday/All Day Event Bug.

2. The afformentioned inability to snooze something in a custom manner (let me choose a custom snooze time for a reminder).

3. The inability to set a custom reminder sound for a task or appointment (one global sound is your choice).

4. The inability to view tasks and appointments in one interface (I find this utterly ridiculous). PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE FIX THIS MICROSOFT...I AM BEGGING.

5. The ridiculous limitations of the file open and file save dialog (no ability to access file system globally).

Default Windows Mobile 7 wish.....

I hope they rework the UI so it is finger friendly, those small little menus and such gotta go. Also, they need to improve the browser.....I shouldn't have to add a 3rd party app to do that...this is a mobile smartphone after all.

Seeing as how I never used WM6, but left the platform after my MDA frustrations overheated trying to sync with my macs, I'd like over the air synchronization, that works with iCal. Do I expect to get this, indirectly yes, but I doubt it can or will be elegant. We mac users are not that important to MS, and justifiably so.

I'd redo the entire web browser. More finger friendly.
