Default Pocket PC Expo 2002 Visited

http://www.pdatweaks.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=30

Kirk Stephens of PDATweaks visited the Pocket PC Expo 2002 and wrote an article about what he saw and experienced. Go and check it out!

"Today I attended the Pocket PC Expo in New York City. The Expo was a conference and exhibition that ran alongside the second annual Internet World Wireless East event. ... Various speakers gave demos showing how to utilize the Pocket PC OS. Eric Levine of Smaller.Com and Pocket PC evangelist Beth Goza were answering questions behind a table with all the latest Pocket PCs for people to check out."

Default PocketPCNY Show

I was over at http://www.davescompaqipaq.com and from what I see he has a pretty good review of the event. I think the shots he has on the site are pretty good. He even has some pictures of the new keyboard. Just thought everyone would like to know ...

Thanks
Pat aka IpaqPAT!

I really enjoyed this event an meeting a lot of great people there. For me, some of the highlights were:

1) Seeing prototypes and demonstrations of devices with the two new operating systems: Pocket PC Phone Edition and SmartPhone

2) pt's first public demonstration of animated/interactive Today screens using Flash - this is REALLY cool. In my opinion, its upcomming release will be a HUGE step forward for the Pocket PC (and the sales of his book, "Flash Enabled"

3) RJ Mical, legendary inventor (remember 3D0?) and game programmer, giving insights into how he sees mobile gaming progress over the next few years followed by several demonstrations of the AMAZING cross-platform (Pocket PC, Game Boy Advance, etc) 3d graphics engine his company (Fathammer) is working on. I can't even begin to describe how sexy these real time demos looked.

4) Watching Dale get Palm owners to beg him to let them "trade up" to a Pocket PC and having them (the Palm users) list all the reasons why Palm is so inadequate - this was hilarious to see and a brilliant marketing strategy for Microsoft

5) A Sprint executive promising that they ARE working hard to make 3G applications work. He even said that within a few years, wireless networking will be FASTER than the wired networks of today

Haha, that's been a gread idea of Dale. I already thought about going to Palm's at CeBit showing off a little.
Jason, I suppose you will be there too, and also on the FanFest. If you managed to organize one or two iPAQs or Casios that would be great fun. You could come with our User Group!
LOL, just imagine all those palm users yelling what they hate about palm - just in front of their stand...!

Personally, I like the look of the Compaq keyboard - much as I admire my Stowaway for its innovativeness, I hate the fact that it requires a flat surface.

Here's an idea, however... how about a Bluetooth version? How cool (not to mention convenient) would that be!

I have to admit that I'm not a technical person so I'm sure that someone will point some perfectly reasonable technical objections. Surely, however, power requirements wouldn't be that high (1 AAA battery?) and data throughput wouldn't be a problem?

I agree with Mike and his bluetooth keyboard suggestion. Way to go, Mike!
