Motorola MPX's Starting to Appear For Sale
Digitalrice at HowardForums (Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource) is selling a phone and he's got 13 detailed pictures of it in his post thread. Why is this important? Because it's one of the first few Motorola MPX's commercially available. The fact that they're starting to leak out on the market indicates that it can't be long till your favourite mobile network will have them in stock. (Well, you can hope, can't you! :wink . If you haven't had enough views of the MPx, you can get some more by going to the thread here, where a buyer has posted his detailed pictures of the device.

Says "Engineering Sample" clearly on the back of the device.

Features: dual-hinge landscape and portrait display.
Question for the techies : how is that possible ? It will be very interesting to observe how the double-hinging thing in action.

Probably oversimplifying, but think about how a sunvisor in a car will pivot in two directions.

$1800!?!?! 8O 8O 8O
The sad thing is that he'll probably get it. People are always willing to pay shocking amounts for a pre-release device.

I would think they would put up full specs if they had them. No info on the processor.

Interesting that he calls it a Smartphone. It is not. It is a PPC Phone Edition device. The Phone Edition, while incorporating phone functions, has a touch screen and is not intended for one handed use specifically. The Smartphone flavor of the OS is intended for and designed for one handed operation and does not have a touch screen. The Motorola MPx-100 is one of those. Just odd to me that someone with a pre-release engineering model wouldn't be cognizant of the distinction.

I don't know... if he was, he might not want to give it up.

What? 980mAh battery? That really better be an engineering sample, because that kinda battery is not going to cut it in a device like that.

Die, smartphone, die!!
I dont understand why they could not make software on a PPCPE one-hand capable also. I mean, why not? You cant even use the included dailer without using a stylus. Thats just stupid.
