Can't sell these things so they are going to give them away, huh?
Actually the reviews have been somewhat mixed. They are the coolest things in the world, but it would be cooler if they didn't have dropouts and stuff.
My other peeve with mine is that they don't work right with MP10. HP did post an update to MP10 for their 3000 series Media Companion PPCs. It breaks the forward/back, play/pause buttons on the headset. Volume works, but that is internal to the headset. It doesn't actuate any controls on the PPC like the other functions do.

I assume you are talking about the hx2100, hx2400, hx2700, rx3417, rx3715 and/or hx4700 HP pocketpc's. It recently occurred to me that if Dell could make money selling a x50v for $300, HP must be raking it in for selling a Hx4700 for $600.
In fact, the probably make more profit (per unit) selling this than this.
From the start, these (very desirable) bluetooth headphones were just a loss-leader for an unattractive pocketpc lineup from HP.

Sucks that they won't sell them cheaper... Yeah, except for the prototype HP designs, the current line up sucks.

Yeah Sven, I assumed you were talking about the units as well until I read the entire post. I've been predicting big discounts for these units ever since they were introduced. But I think the headphones are great. I'd like them better if they were adjustable, and I have had the occassional issue when using them outside, but for the most part I think they're alright.

Wish they would come up with the same discount here... I have tried the Bluetooth headsets and found them to be not to bad. But that's just my opinion.

dropouts might be contributed to a couple of things:
1. HP Drivers
2. WMP10
I have the BT drivers (that were removed from a post on this site) running on a Dell Axim x50v and I do not experience dropout and or crackling/hissing when using BetaPlayer.
I hear more crackling/hissing when I play the same file via WMP10.

3 questions:
- can these be used with a wm 2003 ipaq 3975?
- can these be used with, say, an integrated bluetooth IBM laptop?
- then where the hell do i send my order?

I meant the headsets when I posted. look at the endorsements.
"for the most part I think they're alright"
"found them to be not to bad"
"I hear more crackling/hissing when I play the same file via WMP10". Sort of says there is some even with Beta Player.
Don't get me wrong, they're neat, but they aren't an audiophile dream and aren't cheap. The player may have something to do with it, but I don't think the drivers do. I'm pretty sure they are the same as far as the widcom BT A2DP profile anyway. Looks pretty much the same on my X30 as my rx3715. (yea I snagged a copy of those drivers too)
I've heard they work better with other players too, but I'm not enough of an audio purist to go searching for a third party music player to take up room in my memory when one comes built in. In any case HP isn't selling these to work with Beta Player, they are selling them to work with the Media Player in ROM on their PPCs, and only their PPCs. Personnaly I can't wait till whatever agreement is preventing Logitech from selling these things themselves dissolves and we can get some updates. HP doesn't even seem interested in making them work right on their own PPCs.

mistype on my part, the line above this says I hear no crackling or hissing.
I do not hear ANY crackling and or hissing using the same file with BetaPlayer.
