Default Don't Forget To Get Unwired Tomorrow!

http://www.intel.com/unwire/

This is just a reminder that tomorrow, September 25, Intel is sponsoring their first "One Unwired Day" event. Their goal is to get people to try public wireless Internet access for free at thousands of hotspot locations including coffee shops, airports and hotels nationwide.

Default Great!

This just means all YOUZ HotSpot "non-payers" are going to slow down my connection today.

I use Hotspots for about 3-4 hours everyday

Well I'll be out and about and there are plenty of spots available around the Atlanta, GA area. I wish more spots were free (sandwich shops, bookstores) since I would frequent them more often and likely purchase more items.

I live many miles away from any of those listed so I guess I will be going home to my un-free wireless network.

I concur. Still not ubiquitous enough, imo.

Default hype... but no follow thru?

I just returned from a lunchtime trip to the local shopping mall in Hicksville, NY where I thought I'd sign on (for free) at a T-mobile Starbuck's location.

Well, no sign of any promotional materials so I decided to log on (I have a T-mobile Hot Spot account that I prepaid for x minutes awhile back) I figured I'd see a message on the log in screen about how to get the free access... nothing. So I try my regular log-on and get online. After a few more minutes of trying to figure out how to find the free sign on, I look at my account status, and my prepaid minutes are dwindling, so much for the idea of maybe they don't charge existing customers today.

Well, overall I guess I didn't get the "free" experience I thought I would get today. I figured I would try it and see how well it what implemented. Not too well, IMHO. Lot's of hype but not too easy to use . Perhaps I missed something? Being an existing customer ....?

What kind of experiences did others have? It's not too late, I could go get some free minutes later today if I find out how.
