I would love to be able to take notes on my iPAQ at meetings but even though I see the proof I’m still skeptical. I bought and tried Fitaly a while ago but I thought it was some sort of gimmick or fad. I guess I'll give it another go at it -- seeing (or at least reading about it) is believing.

Jeff,
It’s definitely worth it!
Did you try using FitalyLetris for getting faster with Fitaly? If you haven’t here is the link (it’s free).

FitalyLetris also gives you scores when you are done with the exercises and you can measure your speed using Calligrapher or whatever your current input method is.
My wife Laura entered the contest using Fitaly with a speed of 21 wpm. She practiced about 20 to 30 minutes a day. Her speed kept going up. At the end of the contest she posted 52 wpm!
Jaren posted 62 wpm using QWERTY (unbelievable) but she realized she had to switch to beat her score. She started using FITALY during the contest and reached 74 wpm!!!

I started using Fitaly when I realized it’s the most efficient input method I could find. Think about it, QWERTY was designed for 10 finger typing (part of the goal was to slow down typists but that’s another story), so using it makes your stylus travel FAR between characters while Fitaly is arranged so that the keys used the most are in the center therefore most of the pen trips are VERY short!
Regarding a calligraphy type input, what’s faster a “tap” or a “slide up - change direction - slide down”? How can the letter “O” be entered faster, with a circle or a dot?
Remember Fitaly also supports Slides and Macros. If you take advantage of these added features you can do a lot! I’ve used these features for taking minutes and do something like “mco” (then the expansion key) and it would expand to:
“The board Meeting was Called to Order at 6:30 PM by Xperson, president of the board…” …not bad for 4 taps, think of the possibilities
Regardless of the actual words per minute you achieve isn’t it worth it using the most efficient input method? If while you learn it, you slow down temporarily, keep in mind you will gain your speed back soon, but this time your limit will be quite higher
I bought the first Pocket PC that hit the market “Everex”, soon after, I read about Fitaly and really liked the concept. I let my trial version expire and after 2 months I realized I had to put a little effort and learn it. Now, it’s the piece of software I use the most and couldn’t do without 8)
