Default Bill Gates' Keynote At CES

http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/f...pic.php?p=47908

"I've just finished watching Bill Gates keynote speech at CES and I must say, Bill and guests talked about some really cool things. There was no big Smartphone or Windows Mobile announcement, but don't let that turn you off. Bill did manage to squeeze in the small fact that there are currently 68 mobile operators with Windows Mobile devices in 28 different countries. As well, Bill picked up an Audiovox SMT5600 and showed off a new feature called remote photo browsing, which allows you to wirelessly sync pictures from your Media Center PC to your Smartphone while you're on the go!"

I didn't have a chance to watch the keynote, but Smartphone Thoughts' Editor Mike Temporale did, and penned some good thoughts about the technologies Bill did and didn't show... as well as their failed demos. 8O If you're curious as to what Bill talked about, check it out.

I managed to watch it but there weren't any major announcements to do with Pocket PCs or the Windows Mobile OS. It was largely focused on digital entertainment (Media Centre PCs, IPTV, etc.) and its associative services. However, connectivity was a huge topic this year. :P

Unless he demoed Windows Mobile 2005....TALK TO THE HAND!!!!

Honestly every presentation I've seen Bill in he is the anti-Jobs. Steve has his reality distortion field that can make mold look like the coolest thing ever. Bill has er..has...the most annoying voice ever to grace a stage and generates about as much enthusiasm as..well as mold. That and his expectations of where tech is suppose to be and will be in the next few years always seems to be off the mark by quite a bit. Let me take a cursory guess on connectivity. Always connected. Always there. Always available. Which we all know isn’t the case. That was just a guess though.

Wow. That. How does one respond to that other then to be scared because that basically says what the mindset at Microsoft is in regards to DRM.

Um - you guys heard of a place called China? I'm pretty sure he wasn't referring to places where patents and copyright are at least marginally respected.

Here's an interesting blurb on Chinese piracy.

Default ridiculous

This man is so full of ****. It's unbelievable. He's talking about "WE made standards"while it are THEY who actually break standards. At one point I was reading about music and how to transfer this across different items. And Bill started talking again about "the standards that we developped"I just couldn't read it anymore.

This is so full of of s...

Standards which others like ericsson (bluetooth), IBM/Apple (firewire) etc... developped and which took ages to get properly introduced in our PC's thanks to low-life rich bitch.

I just couldn't go one any further. I hope he dies and rot in hell. This man is the uttermost of capitalism. Who has completely lost his touch with the world. He can join wacko jacko in never-never-land for all i care.

regards

You bet I heard about China. I am based in Singapore, a stones throw. What you don't know out there is that actually MS loves China. It is pumping massive dollars into education in that country and turning an eye on any and all piracy that exists. Why, lets see. 1.3 billion hardworking people on Linux + OpenSource s/w now vs same number on pirated MS products. Its the golden goose story all over again. Why cut it now. Just keep on feeding it with some grains till it grows.

Those kids who cut their teeth on MS software will grow to be tomorrows software engineers, finance directors, party chiefs. With WTO and what not it is generally expected that the welfare levels, patent compliance and spend on legal software will rise over time.

Read it from me. India is big now for MS as well as many other tech firms. China will be even bigger. Just a matter of time.
