Synchronization is always a dark art, and while it's pretty simple when you have one computer running Outlook and one Windows Mobile device, things get rapidly more complex when you add in more devices and services. This article covers a whole array of services - it's unlikely that many of you are using exactly that same services as he is, but perhaps you can adapt the same basic principles to your own scenarios.

Myself, I've found that using a combination of 4smartphone [affiliate], Foldershare, FeedDemon, and the Google Browser Sync Tool has let me hit about 90% bliss when it comes to synchronization. I wish some other things would synchronize across all my PCs - like my ActiveWords data file, but for the most part I'm quite pleased with the way I'm able to keep my life in sync. What about you? Does this mean that I can sync Google Calender with Pocket Informant? That's all I want to do! I use my Axim for all my PIM's.

Anyone got some help for only sync'ing specific categories from Outlook? I believe it's been a few versions of ActiveSync since this was possible. Right now if I sync, it copies all of my home contacts onto my work machine. I don't like to mix my office and my home contact and appointments.

I skimmed the article, definitely looks like the great resource! I've been trying to figure out the best way for synching my Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar.

One thing I've noticed lately is that I almost never go into Outlook at home anymore, I mainly enter calendar events into my Pocket PC and synch up when I get home. And email is read and organized via Gmail at home and work, I go into Outlook about once a week to download and delete the hundreds of messages received that week.

That's almost exactly what I do but I don't use Outlook at all.

The ideal solution would be a Pocket PC/Smartphone and Google Mail/Calendar synchronization tool. I wonder if anything like that is in the works?

Jason - if I hadn't heard about Foldershare I believe I'd be wasting in a eternal dispair of manual sync.

Everyone else - Try Foldershare if you own more than 1 computer

Having a MAC and using .Mac gives me the benefit of synchronisation between many computers. Currently I sync my iMac, my Macbook Pro, my mobile phone with no problems. Everything works great if you use the default applications.

Soon I will be syncing my new iPaq 6915.

.Mac offers a good experience for most MAC users.
