Default Acer Pushes PDA Phone Plans to 2006

http://www.infoworld.com/article/05...daphones_1.html

"We're going to do PDAs with phone function next year," said Campbell Kan, head of Acer's mobile computing business unit, during an interview at the Computex exhibition in Taipei. In addition to the phone function, the PDAs will also support IEEE 802.11 WLAN (wireless LAN), also known as Wi-Fi, he said. Wireless connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi or mobile telephony has become an increasingly common feature in many PDA models."

Last month, I posted on Acer's plans to release a new line of PDA phones. An interview with Campbell Kan, head of Acer's mobile computing business division, has revealed a little more information (though not much). One thing that is certain is that these PDAs will feature integrated Wi-Fi. Acer is also deciding whether to make the first batch of PDAs GPRS-compatible or 3G-compatible. I guess it really depends on which market they intend on targeting, so what will Acer have in store for us in 2006? Time will tell.
