I'm with Busdriver. I don't even like audiobooks, and I never listen to talk shows on the radio. I enjoy reading a lot more (and it's easier to skim or pick and choose the bits to read). I've never looked into any speech-to-text software, but I'm guessing it's still not ready for prime time, or at least not ready for a southern accent.
I just listened to your podcast. It was clear as a bell. I only heard the ambulance - no other background noise. And it was extremely interesting. I hope you keep doing this.
but some people are commuting and have a lot of time to kill and some people like to listen to podcasts. The fact that iTunes users now do several million downloads of podcasts a day proves it.
of course it is not for everyone, but please stop complaining and don't spoil the fun for those who like it. if you like to read, read, but don't complain here that you don't like to listen...
The sound quality was much better, good job. However it really urks me when you say 'Thoughtscast' instead of 'podcast'. But that's really not a big problem in the grand scheme of things.

The term podcast "urks" me (it's "irks" BTW) because this has nothing to do with iPods and ultimately it's just a word made up by an MTV Apple fanboy. Podcasts are just audio recordings in an RSS enclosure, and audio recordings have been around the 'Net for a long time. Ultimately the important part of the term is "cast" not "pod". You'll find over the next 12 months the term podcast will morph into other things - Microsoft is calling them "BlogCasts", and other terms will pop up as well.
I personally LOVE the term ThoughtCast that Ed came up with because it's a casting (throwing) of opinion out into the vast ether that is the 'Net...how poetic!

I'm kind of in the same boat - I don't have a commute, so for me listening to audiocasts isn't a very efficient use of my time. But it seems a significant number of people aren't like us and want to listen to them, so it seems that not everyone is like us. ;-) If you don't want to listen to it, that's fine, but that doesn't make it any less valid as a format.
