Default Polaris Gets The Touch Treatment

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/...med-the-cruise/

"The next step in the HTC Touch line -- the GPS-equipped Polaris -- has been re-christened the Touch Cruise, and has gone and gotten its juicy specs all leaked out to the internet. In addition to having improved TouchFlo capabilities, like rotation and zoom, the new model will sport a quad-band GSM radio (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), tri-band UMTS (850 / 1900 / 2100), HSDPA and HSUPA data connectivity, a 400MHz MSM7200 Qualcomm CPU, 128MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM, a 2.8-inch, 320 x 240 QVGA display, 3-megapixel camera (plus secondary, 0.3-megapixel camera), WiFi, Bluetooth, and a microSD slot."

The replacement for the Artemis is looking better by the day - I love the addition of HSDPA AND HSUPA, the 128MB RAM, and the autofocus camera. The improved TouchFlo interface is a bonus. For travelers, the Polaris is quadband GSM and tri-band UMTS, which makes it viable for any GSM network (including the US). Anybody have this on their wishlist for Christmas?

This tops my list. I was going to get the regular Touch, since I miss my Pocket PC apps, but this one looks so much better. I've been using a N95, and it's truly a remarkable device, but it's no Pocket PC. I can no longer live without Pocket Informant or Spb software. I hate to give up this camera, but I can only hope the new "Cruise" has a decent camera.

This is the device I wanted a month ago. But I bought the TyTN II, and even though I struggle with its brickiness (neologism of the day), I think I'm a keyboard convert. I never thought I'd say that.

Default hsupa

This is the first device I've seen that actually supports hsupa!!! I wouldn't expect to use it much on a handheld but I'm glad to see it's supported. Do any carriars in the US support it? I've only ever seen hsdpa advertised. I know my card from cingular (Option GT Max) doesn't. I was guessing Cingular/att's network doesn't support it.

Anyone know?

I'm sure this will be a great device for some people. I will never be able to go back to qvga after having vga and pocket informant with legible text in my month view!!! I don't know how anyone lives without that. I think the month view in pocket informant accounts for 85% of my pocket pc usage.
