Default The OTHER Dell Axim X51 Pocket PCs

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/pro...s=19&l=en&s=dhs

In all the excitement over the X51v review, I forgot to post about the other two siblings in this family: the X51 520 mhz and the X51 416 mhz. The X51v is selling for $499 USD on Dell.com, and boasts a 624 mhz CPU, 256 MB of Flash ROM, a VGA screen, WiFi/Bluetooth and 64 MB of RAM. The next most powerful unit is the X51 at 520 mhz, with 128 MB of ROM, 64 MB of RAM, and a QVGA screen coming in at $399 USD. The little guy of the family is the $299 USD X51 at 420 mhz with 64 MB of RAM, 128 MB of ROM, QVGA screen, and Bluetooth. Just like the X51v, these new X51 units are very similar to the old X50 series and offer little reason to upgrade if you're currently an X50 owner. If you're using an older Pocket PC and want to upgrade to Windows Mobile 5, these devices offer an affordable way to get there.

Default Dog slow

Received my X51 520 MHz today for testing purposes. First reaction:

It is dog slow. This reminds me of the fiasco when the X5 with PPC'03 was first introduced, and they halted sales until a firmware update was made available.

My app runs very slow, screen updates are slow, wireless takes over twice as long to connect after a resume and each packet takes over 5 times longer by my benchmark app.

The question is whether this is a Dell firmware problem or a Microsoft bloatware problem.

Anyone else noticing this, or can confirm?
