Default Omnia Shows In UK; But Beware Of Warranty Caveats

The Samsung Omnia is popping up everwhere these days. With reviews on Slashgear and Engadget Mobile and reports that it's now available in the UK Prospective Omnia parents are probably awash with information on this new device. But here's something you may not know - Samsung is not happy about importing their devices to places they aren't supposed to be sold, and may not honor warrenties on such. So called "grey-stock" may be a great way to get a device but buyer beware. Kinda reminds me of a time I bought an i-Mate Pocket PC and had the connector fall out on me - Either ship back to Dubai or be out of luck. I was the latter, but at least I sorta expected that thing may happen. Anyone buying an Omnia?

It looks very interesting, but can anyone help me understand what is the thought process behind 240 x 400 screen resolution? Why not VGA or WVGA?

My guess. 1) Cost and 2) Video performance.
The screen size may be to ensure they got certified with DiVX and also to get excellent screen rotation when using the accelerometer. It does seem quite snappy and for those not caring about VGA resolution.

That's the best explination that I've heard so far, thanks. *disclaimer "expect to be quoted by me".
