Yes the touchpad is the only concern I would have about the 4700. I might be the greatest thing since sliced bread or might be a dog - like you, I will really have to have a play with one first hand.
Yeah, I am totally in love with the 4700. I think it is very sleek looking. I like the color scheme and the idea that it's a lightweight magnesium alloy. It has to be pretty solid I would think and probably about 2 or 3 ounces less than if they had made it out of something else that would be as sturdy.

And the touchpad? I think it's an awesome idea. Personally, I never have liked the jog dial concept - the touchpad with a mouse seems very intuitive to me.

And have you guys seen the pictures of the 3700 attached to the new HP BT laptop sized (5 row) keyboard? It looks very sleek in landscape mode...I imagine the 4700 is going to look even better than this!!!

And $129 direct from HP is not a bad price for that keyboard

I like the look of the 4700 - I always have my devices in slip cases (Vaja, etc) so the case aesthetics are a mute point.

One thing disturbs me about the landscape mode - which is a common problem with all SE devices is the enormous amount of the screen taken up by the top and bottom bars... Surely with a VGA screen they could be combined into a single bar in landscape...

I'd have to use true VGA mode (tiny text) to reduce the size of these bars.

While I like the idea of the touchpad, I wonder how it will fair while in landscape mode when held in the left hand lime most of us right handers would do. It is not an issue with 5xxx series or any other devices for that matter but with a touchpad it could be tricky.
Can't you go in landscape mode with the touchpad on either side? I read somewhere that you can...

Wow! I didn't know Brighthand had a time machine! If what you're saying is true, they covered the Malaysian product launch 5 days before it happened!!!! OMG!!!!

Back on topic: I think "gormless" is the word I'd pick to describe these units.

You can flip the landscape display so that the touchpad is either on the left or right, user's preference.

And if they're interesting, we try to post them in a reasonable timeframe. But do remember that most of us are volunteers and are doing this on our "free" time.

Now, let's please stay on topic.
