"Looks like HP has still no luck with its Windows Mobile PDA and smartphone business. After the American PC manufacture caught some attention with its recently announced iPAQ line of PDAs and smartphone, TamsPPC Blog reports that the whole iPAQ line is delayed."
After the blow of having the 200 series delayed, it now appears that the 600 and 900 series are having the same problems. The 600 series looks like it'll only turn up in February 2008 and the 900 series in May 2008, or about 3-4 months after they were originally slated to be shipping. Bear in mind that this report has not yet been corroborated, but given the problems with the 200 series, I wouldn't be surprised if we get this confirmed pretty soon.
Update: (via Brighthand) Bad news, HP has more or less confirmed the gist of the news through a spokesman:
Quote: ...a small number of production and supply issues discovered in the development of the recently announced HP iPAQ products will cause their availability to be later than we had hoped in some regions of the world.

I think it is very important that a product is brought to the retail shelves at an accelerated pace once it is announced simply because of the pace technology changes these days. The ipaq was very exciting when it was announced but the Imate 9502 has already stolen some of the limelight. It has everything the iPaq has plus the VGA screen.
HP just seems to be perpetually late to the party. The sad thing is that when these things finally do come out, I predict they'll be slightly outdated stats-wise. While they won't be total dinosaurs in the market, it will hurt them just enough to make HP put future releases on the back burner (which seems to get progressively farther away from their focus with each round of iPAQ releases... :? )

Seems to pretty standard practice for HP. Since about the time they released the 47XX series they seem to be at least half a product cycle behind. Seems to be amplified with their cellular devices. If I recall they seemed to have released both the 63XX and 65XX series right before MS released newer versions of WM.
If this turns out to be true, I'm disappointed, as the 900 series is almost exactly what I'm looking for in a converged device (if only they included 8 GB flash memory!) The combination of 320 x 240 screen, GPS, WiFi, 3G, and front facing keyboard seems to be the best compromise for my needs right now. I am currently trying out an ATT Tilt, but having to slide the horizontal keyboard for quick tasks, and the lack of hard keys for phones make this a better PDA than phone.
The quote from pocketpcsoft says that the 200 series (along with the 100 and 300 series) will be shipping THIS FALL, AS EXPECTED. It then goes on to say that the 200 series is expected to ship in Jan 08. Very late fall, I guess.

Anyone who has waited this long for a new iPAQ probably won't mind a few more months :P
