Default Metal, Leather and Your Pocket PC

http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P0...1008&t_mode=des

"The new Proporta Aluminium-Lined Leather Case features our new "Screen Saver" system, combining the classic styling of a traditional leather case with the rigid protection of aluminium. A hidden magnetic attachment system allows the case to dock securely with the Proporta vehicle mounting system so it's ideal for use with GPS navigation systems."

There aren't any shots of the inside of the case, but if you have butterfingers, you might want to look into this. It doesn't look huge, and the metal should afford a higher degree of protection than your typical leather case. What do you think? Is this a good idea, or is rigid leather good enough for you?

I managed to crack a Pocket PC screen through the case that was supplied with it, so I'm a fan of Proporta's "alu-leather" innovation.

I've tried these cases, and they're very nicely designed. My one disappointment, though, was the belt-clip that comes with them: it makes the PDA sit rather far out from your body, and it can also be knocked loose too easily. I was crossing the street the other day, and mine let go, dropping the PDA to the ground, where an exposed corner of the unit got scraped.

I've since switched to an Asus MyPal A730W (long story), and am stunned by the case that came with it. It's actually good! I like it more than any of the cases I've bought. I thought that was a classy move on their part. (Not to mention the extra battery and USB host cable.)

This looks like a dressed-up version of the free case that came with my 4150., which I think is a great idea. From the pic's, the leather looks almost "Vaja-like". If this case was made for the 4150, I would absolutely purchase one.

Default Exposed Corners on PDA Cases

I've also dinged the edge of a device by dropping it on concrete (actually I dropped a Cassiopeia, and my iPAQ 22xx - came out of the belt clip and landed on asphalt).

I thought of that because this case seems to have open corners. I don't get leaving the edges exposed like that. If you drop it on concrete or any rough surface, Murphy's law says it's going to land on the exposed edge and your going to have a pretty roughed-up pocket pc.
