Default Drill hole for reset access?

Has anybody thought about drilling a hole in the 700w's battery cover to facilitate a reset without removing the cover each time? Seems like an easy mod - anybody already done it?

Hmm, that is an interesting hack. The having to remove battery cover does drive me nuts. On the other hand, I'm always afraid of modding my PDA. I don't have to soft-reset often enough, and I've gotten pretty good at popping the cover open when I need to. Combine that with a software solution, and I'm guessing I probably won't bother. :P

Default Software solution?

:?: Janak,

What software solution for a soft reset are you using? How does it work if the 700w is frozen?

I'm not using one, but I used to on an older device. There is software soft-reset functionality in a bunch of places, including commercial apps like Pocket Plus, to freeware apps that one can Google for. However, this isn't a solution for the cases when the 700w freezes. That happens rarely enough for me that I just pop the cover open.

Wisbar Lite allows for software driven soft resets.

furnituremaven,

Here's another option:

http://www.seidio.com/Treo_battery.htm

I don't see the order link there, but there's a battery cover with a hole in it...

That link was for a Treo 650 cover, not for a Treo 700

Yeah - the 650 cover might work, but even if it does the color is probably different.
