Configuring WiFi on ASUS 716

I'm new to the pda world and I'm just getting around to configuring the built-in wifi on my A716. The instructions in the User Manual are pretty spare.
I have a wired network at home, so I'm wondering if I go to a cyber cafe, for instance, and turn on wifi, will I be able to connect even tho I haven't setup SSID, BSSID, etc. on my unit?

I hope this is not too lame, but like I said, I'm new. :?
