Stupid question: why would you want to get a GSM i700 instead of the "XDA II"? As far as I can tell, the XDA II is a strict superset of the i700's features. I have a CDMA i700, and I stick with it because that's the only CDMA choice with its featureset...

Hmm... I thought the GSM i700 had been out for some time now. Perhaps it was my imagination, but I vaguely recall an SGH-i700, which I thought was the gsm version of the same phone.

Is this not the case?

The SGH-i700 is indeed the GSM version, but to the best of my knowledge it's not out anywhere.
