Default ActiveSync with Bluetooth

Greetings,

I'm having a heck of a time using ActiveSync with Bluetooth. I've paired my PC and my i730 so I see the PC in the i730 Bluetooth Connections list, I added an outgoing COM port for the PC. When I use ActiveSync->Get Connected it spins for a while and says "Microsoft ActiveSync cannot recognize the device for one of two reasons--it's not a PocketPC or SmartPhone, or it's not connected correctly"

I'm using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack (comes with my Dell d610). Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Send a message via MSN to sickens

make sure that in the bluetooth configuration, under "local services" you allow "network access" and have it start up automatically. This is what allows me to activesync my axim x50v via bluetooth. Setting up the com port (BT serial port) was not enough. it would connect, but it would not sync unless you enable network access...

hopefully that works.

btw, i'm using the bluetooth hub in my logitech mx 900.

See if these instructions from www.pdaphonehome.com help:

I got my i730 to work and I did not need to specify the port.

I changed my BT adapter once and had no end of trouble.

One thing I did discover was that activesync will only recognise single digit coms (1-8 if I remember correctly)

This caused me so many problems I went back to my old adapter

Cheers

Giles
