Default Hands On Review of Viewsonic V35???

Would appreciate it if anyone can direct me to an extensive hands on review of the Viewsonic V35.

I'm aware of the following three very brief reviews.

Jason Dunn's review from the Mobius conference on this site
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?id=4632

Judie Hughes comments from The Gadgeteer also has a mention from Mobius http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/mobius-2002-article.html

Josh Taylor's comments from ZDNet http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/stor...884853,00.html

The V35 is a very intriguing unit with its reportedly small form factor, brilliant backlit transflective screen, and true SDIO, for which you can already obtain Bluetooth cards and in a few more months 802.11b cards.

FYI - Dell's recently announced AXIM's do not support SDIO, so no wireless connectivity will be possible on their $199 unit unless they release a CF sleeve.

For my needs, I prefer the smaller physical size and am willing to accept the 900mAh battery. That won't meet everyone's needs, nor will the lack of a CF slot, but this unit sounds like the one for me.

TIA,

PocketRocker

There are no really great reviews of the V35 yet - which is why I'm hoping they'll send me one soon. :-)

Default *True* Battery Life on Viewsonic V35?

Anyone have one that cares to provide real world battery rundown time?

Also, how is the MP# or WMA playback quality?

Thank you.

From what I've read, both units sport a CF and SD slot. The form factors are the same. For less $ you get less Rom, less Ram, les speed and only a USB cable as I understand it.

Until Viewsonic starts shipping the devices to enthusiast sites like ours, you won't see information like this - major press sites don't have the time or expertise to do tests like that.

Default Good Review of Viewsonic V35 Now Available

An extensive hands-on review of the Viewsonic V35 has been posted on the PDA Buyers Guide site. It includes benchmark comparisions with several current Pocket PC's. The review reaffirms that the unit supports SDIO.

I wouldn't trust the benchmark for V35. The unit must have been running at 200Mhz, if not, how do you explain the difference on integer and float calculations respect to other 300Mhx Xscale models?. The fact that video performance improved a lot working on FAST mode supports my point.

The V35's cradle SUCKS. dosen't hold the unit in "firm" enough. sorta wobbles around when using the unit on the cradle. it makes you think....

"wow, that connector is going to wobble loose from inside the unit if i continue this."

Default Cradle

Actually, I think the cradle is pretty good. I have it sitting on my desktop at work, and it keeps the unit accessible and at the perfect angle.

BTW, I had just bought the official ViewSonic Travel Kit (sync cable & charger) already, but there is a company producing one-piece charging/sync cables here:

If I still had my notebook I would definitely pick one up.
