Default X50v WM5 ROM A02 User Updates?

Anyone else out there spent time with ROM A02?

I have found it frustrating and disappointing. The X50v sometimes just CRAWWWLLLLLLS; even with the CPU set for max performance.

And I have a huge frustration with wireless connection. Probably the most useful thing I could do with a PPC - connect to my work LAN via wireless -- still remains an unfulfilled dream. So close but yet so far! The X50v has all the right stuff but just has too many problems. The connection requires using Odyssey Client to connect with WPA / TKIP / EAP-LEAP.

Sometimes, it just won't connect. Sometimes an error: Sorry, a problem has occurred with Device.exe etc.

Adding insult to injury... I borrowed someone's X3i and discovered that it will establish a useful connection much much much more reliably!

Borrowed another guys X51v and encountered some of the same frustrations: some Device.exe errors --- but I was able to actually get a useful connection some of the time.

Anyone having better luck?

No, My biggest gripe was that it sucked the life out of my battery. I don't use the X50 that much, so it often just lays on my desk. With 2003SE it can lay there for a week and a half. With WM5, A02, 2-3 days max. With the other issues, it's back on 2003SE.

I haven't seen serious slowdowns. WM5 is slower than 2003SE overall and the battery life is just inordinately low. The heat generated is also high...it didn't get that warm that quick.

I've read other posts pointing out that the X50 series can't cope well with WM5, but have turned it to their advantage. With perseverance and the right Dell agent on the other end of the line some have managed to turn the problems into an upgrade to the 51 series... :devilboy:
