NEVER MIND! I figured it out. I found the answer was actually in another recent post:
ActiveSync - Guest Only Mode? in my case Guest Only was on in the registry and it took my IT guy to clear it out.

I recently upgraded to the new ROM rev.
I may have fouled something up...
I can sync to one of my PCs at home with XP but I have been unable to sync at work - it only connects as Guest. Hard Reset has not resolved this.
Subsequently I tried to sync at home with my new machine with Vista - and couldn't connect at all -- I only got the 'bonk' sound when I put the PPC in the cradle.
I wonder if I screwed up on the first sync to my XP machine and clicked "Sync ONLY with this PC". If that were it - shouldn't that be resolvable by deleting that partnership? I tried that too - and reconnected to that PC. But I have not seen that screen again - the one which says "Sync to 2 PCs or sync ONLY to this PC".
Can anyone bail me out?
