Default X 5... Yes X FIVE questions. but anyone can answer

I was gunna get the HP Ipaq 3115 but

1) its about $100 cnd more
2) i hear the life of the think sort of sucks
3) only 58 mb ram

i am total newbie to the ppc world. so a few questions

1) the dell doesnt seem to have "flash memory" installed. but the 3115 does. what exactly does flash memory do. the dell does have more ram and rom than the 3115.

2) i understand that you can use the 3115 as a universal remote. this isnt very important, but i was wondering if i can do the same with the x5?

3) with 64mb of ram and 400mhz, the x5 should play movies and video a-ok...right?

4) i understand that the x5 does not come with windows mobile 2003. what major changes are there from 2002 and 2003?

5) lastly, although the x5 will be mainly for school and storing files, and gps. id want a few games. most games i see run on wm 2003, does that mean that the x5 is totally incapable of playing 2003 games even with its mad power?

thnx for any repsonses

1) The Axim does have flash memory, flash memory and ROM are the same thing. Part of it is taken up with the operating system, and anything left over is available to the user.

2) Not really. You can try, but you'll only get a couple of feet of range.

3) Video should play alright, as long as you reencode it to a proper size for the Axim.

4) Some X5s come with WM2003, some come with 2002. If you did get one with 2002, you should be able to hunt down an upgrade disc somewhere.

5) Most apps/games which run on 2003 would probably also run on 2002, but not neccessarily all. It's hard to tell.

phew. youve beena huge help. lol. ill probably sit in the front of the class by the tv and turn the tv on while bored lol. thats the only purpose of the universal remote idea. to turn the tv on during class and make believe there's a ghost somewhere . lol

but on this site

http://reviews.cnet.com/Axim_X5_400_...2.html?tag=tab

it says that there is no flash memory installed... hmmmmmm

i dont mind having 2002, i was just wondering if apps and games were compatible with 2002 although they were made for 2003

Just read the line above it, the 48 MB is Flash ROM...meaning Flash memory...that's a really confusing way to list it.

It has 64MB RAM/48MB ROM

Memory
---------------------------------------------------
Installed RAM 64 MB DRAM

RAM technology SDRAM

Installed ROM 48 MB Flash

Flash memory installed None
