ROM A04 and A05
er well, ive read a lot about the dells and it seems that on the X5, they had something called the ROM A04 that worked very very terrible. So if anyone was to get the A04, they must have had to had upgraded the ROM to A05 for it to work to its full potential.
well, my question is. was the problem fixed on all newer X5 or do all X5 have this problem and everyone has to upgrade the ROM themselves. if so, can somebody give me a link to where the rom upgrade is. I dont think its on the dell website and i dont think theyre gunna send me something almost 3 years ago.

There's really not a huge difference between the ROM versions A04 and 05. But it's possible or even likely that any X5 you buy now will come with the newest ROM already installed. Just check the system information after you get it.

Well, I had my X5 for almost 3 years and I did not notice a HUGE difference between A04 and A05. There were some minor changes but the biggest one that I remember was being able to use the D pad as an enter key when pressing it in the center.
Anyway like I said, the update came out so long ago that it's MOST likely that any X5 you buy today will already have it installed, so don't worry about it for now. If not, it should be available through a search on their site. And if not that, then I may actually still have the file on my computer that I could send to you, if you really need it!

I better do this as well. I just received my new X50v last Friday, and it's ROM is A04, I noticed. I was hoping to avoid having to do an upgrade so soon...

He's talking about the X5 rom A04 and A05, not the X50.
