Default RAM question

Is it better for system performance to install all programs and files to compact flash and SD?

Is performance noticeably better if all of the ram is left free. (i have 32)?

I'm sure its a dumb question but i'm new at this :?

Thanks

Well, to put it simply... if you use all your ram, you won't be able to run much of anything. Many programs require at least 5-10 megs. And keep in mind the free ram is automatically split between program space and memory. So just use the common sense approach and leave a good amount free. I'd say if you start dropping below 16 megs memory, you could be heading for trouble.

:? Do you mean 16 MB total, or 16 MB system only? :?:

Personally, I'd say memory... but we're talking based on your uses, not mine. If you know you need 5-7 megs memory for a program like Snails, and you've only got 16 total... shouldn't be hard to do the math to see if you're in the clear. Go to start>settings>system>memory to check.

And if you try to adjust that slider, don't be surprised if it springs right back on you. You can adjust it a little, but it's mostly automatic.

Default Question of RAM

Yea, before I had my H3650 upgraded to 64 MB of RAM, I used to have the "spring back" problem quite a bit, but not so much now with 64 MB. Thanks a lot.
