How to "force" A02 ROM update

I've heard of people using the bootloader.exe file to "force" the A02 ROM update when your computer won't let you. ("cannot downgrade opperating systems") Does anyone know how you would proceed with the bootloader.exe method? Would I copy all the ROM files including the ROM image and bootloader.exe to a memmory card and launch the boot loader.exe, or would I cradle the pda and go through the aximupdate setup launching the bootloader when it tells me that I can't "downgrade"? Thanks!
