Can't say for sure comparing the Ipaq but the screen is excellent. Colors very bright and clear image. All that I have shown the Axim to have been extremely impressed with the screen.

I don't have a 3900 to compare it to, but on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say the Dell screen is a 9 Very bright, crisp, good contrast.

*yay - can post again!* I just got mine yesterday, and to say it's dazzling would be an understatement - took it to work today and had many people drooling. Only one guy thought it was too wide for his hands (he's on the small side) but was very impressed. I already have 3 people wanting one

I would put the Dell at 7 and the 39xx series at 9 because the colors on the iPaq seemed SLIGHTLY more vibrant.

For the price the fact that the Axim can compare so well, and even better than others speaks volumes - as the iPaq is a premium device. Nothing comes close to the sheer bang for the buck that the Dells offer. In fact, I don't think once the newer viewsonic and iPaq 1910s start rolling into distributors could you still match the dells price if you were able to purchase from them. In fact, it would probably take a direct order from the companies for obscene volumes to probably even come somewhat close.

I'm really excited to get this puppy in my hand finally... hurry up Monday!!!

Default Compared to IPAQ 3835

Carried my IPAQ 3835 up to Dell store at malll to compare with Axim. Went home and ordered a Axim. Much, Much better display than IPAQ 3800 series..... Also much smaller that my IPAQ with CF expansion pak installed

The screen is very nice on the Axim, however, max brightness and refresh rate are slightly lower than on the iPaq, as well as a slight size difference 3.5" Axim, 3.78" iPaq.

With that said, the Axim 400Mhz is hands down better than my iPaq 3955! 8O I don't know what was done to the software on the Axim however it is more responsive than my iPaq and I really like the fact that the CPU auto-scales based on required processing power, that is why it is called an Xscale after all. Oh yeah, NO MORE BULKY SLEEVES!!!

And finally, at less than half the price with more ROM, a CF slot, removable battery, and super cool cradle with extra charger/neon blue Dell logo built-in, I can see why atleast 4 people at my workplace have already ordered the Axim!

Cheers!

Wow...I didn't think I would be so drawn to the Dell at first, but now I am bombarded by the temptation to get one.

And then I realize I still have my iPAQ 3950, and I don't think that the Dell is *that* much better than the iPAQ to justify trying to sell the iPAQ and then get a Dell. Maybe next time around, especially if Dell integrates Wi-Fi into the package (my college has wifi access points throughout campus!)...<sigh>
