Default DELL OS upgrade delayed again

Just got an email from Dell. They are delaying shipment for 2003 from 8/22 tp 10/1. The screwy thing is they made me call to verify that I want to continue the order otherwise they cancel it on 8/22.

After a short wait, the guy said that Microsoft had a couple more issues and they were halting shipments.

Hard to tell. Anybody know about any new issues or is this just Dell?

It's just Dell, I've running WM 2003 on my Ax for about 3 weeks now; Dell doesn't know what it's doing anymore. BTW, Ax users who ordered the 2003 upgrade in Europe have recieved their cd's. US users are getting the long wait for some reason.

DELL FINDS AXIM GLITCH

July 16th (CNET) -- Dell has said it has identified a software glitch inside its Axim handheld and will not ship new units until it corrects the problem. The company said that Axim X5 models running Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC contain a software glitch that reduces their performance on many applications. Dell recently began offering the Axims X5 with the new software. Instead of introducing a new Axim model to go with the Microsoft software, which came out on June 23rd 2003, Dell added it to existing X5 model, leaving its basic hardware unchanged. Since they began receiving Dell Axims with the 2003 software installed, a number of Dell customers have reported a noticeable lack of performance in the newer models versus older models with Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 software. Dell said it would look into the issue earlier last week, but at the time it had not yet received any formal complaints. Since then, a company representative said Dell ran tests and discovered the performance issue with Axim X5s loaded with the 2003 software.

Dell fixed that glitch a couple weeks ago (July 30th), there was a slowdown issue with ROM A04, they fixed it with A05. But Dell posted the update fix on a public ftp; update didn't seem to install for a lot of legit 2003 A04 owners and was quicked hacked to update the older 2002 Axims. Dell pulled the patch, blaming it on the update getting hacked (NOT). The question is why it's taking Dell forever to press some cd's, European users have already been recieving their upgrade cd's, US customers have not (Dell must be burning them one at a time using Nero and a single PC).
